cohost! appreciation thread

If you aren’t aware, social media site cohost! is shutting down.

I’m going to miss cohost! The css crimes, the nsfw artists, the indie video game devs. It feels like many of the people I’m following are being scattered across many different platforms or choosing to simply not engage with social media anymore for a lack of good alternatives.

I think some (like me) will be setting up website blogs as a replacement for posting on cohost. I would also say that fraidycat is the closest, spiritually, to what I want as a replacement for cohost… though there are some things I dislike about it. And it’s just a way to follow people online, that’s all.

I just wanted to make a thread to express appreciation for the site, as I know some of us have found each other on there, and to talk about where things are going from here.

Met everyone here through cohost! I often used it as a trauma diary / venting place - to the chagrin of more than a few, I’m sure! But the community I met there was there for me through the toughest years of my life

Also really got to know other trans mathematicians and programmers for the first time.

Wow, I had a lot of issues w/ cohost but I’ll really miss the place. Cheers to cohost and cheers to everyone here.

As to where things go from here … I don’t know, but I’m optimistic (eternally) that we can figure out something really nice.
