Where to start… I never know what to say in an introduction. I found out about this site from one of @exodrifter’s streams and I’m excited to be a part of the community!

I go by MatchaJoeJoe on the socials. Joe is my given name, Matcha is my chosen name, I answer to both and don’t really have a preference between the two. I went to school for art, kinda stumbled into data engineering as a day job, and I occasionally stream art, game dev, and whatever games catch my fancy if I have the spoons for it.

I’ve been a hobbyist game dev for over a decade. I started with GameMaker, played around with Unity for a while until it got weird, and I’m currently learning Godot. I have a ton of half-finished projects, but I have yet to actually publish anything other than uploading stuff to my website. I have mostly worked on 2D pixel art games, but I have occasionally dabbled in stylized 3D games. I’m currently working on a couple of personal projects, and I occasionally do game art commissions when I have the time/inclination.

Uh, what else… I play guitar, poorly. I know enough Spanish to get in trouble and enough French to get to the bathroom. I’ve been trying to learn LMMS so I can make my own game music. I have have a teenage kid and two cats. I watch an unreasonable amount of anime. I have a bit of a green thumb and I enjoy wood carving. Spicy food is best food.

Anyway, I’m just rambling at this point. Happy to be here and looking forward to getting to know you all!

Bonjour Matcha! I’m learning French and I also like spicy food. Habaneros are so tasty ^^

How did you make your website? I’ve seen a few others use Godot to make their website, but it seems you’re doing something a bit different.

I’m also curious about what anime you like. Watch anything recently that you like?

C’est génial! Habaneros are very tasty, I love the cholula sweet habanero sauce.

Most of my website is organic, grass-fed, hand-coded html/css/javascript. I copied a template that I liked for my comms section, and obviously the unity games in my portfolio were exported, but everything else I manually typed in each and every character.

As for anime, I’m a bit of a mixed bag, I’m currently watching witch hat atelier, dorohedoro, and daemons of the shadow realm. My all time favs are mushishi, trigun (og and reboot), gurren lagann, and last exile (edit: gah! I forgot FLCL, there’s too much anime to fit in my brain). Not necessarily in that order.
