I had a conversation today which inspired me to make some changes to the Events category:
- The calendar no longer shows up when the category is selected, but it can still be seen by clicking on Upcoming events in the sidebar. I decided I liked this better, since the calendar widget is quite big and takes up most of the screen real estate on both desktop and mobile which makes browsing topics in the events category cumbersome.
- Events now have location tags, including online for online events or specific city tags like boston and san-jose.
- Events are now always sorted by upcoming followed by past events, from earliest to latest event date.
- The “Latest” and “Hot” filters are no longer visible or usable, since the upcoming sort is always used due to technical limitations
This makes it easier to filter for events of specific types or for those in specific locations.
