New Game Project: Paradox Tower

Showing off my new game project, Paradox Tower.

It’s a 2D game, with a cute witch and her cat, exploring a mysterious tower! It has Tower of Sorcerer/Magic Tower/WWA, gameplay (think Zelda, but number goes up). I will show off the demo at Godot Con Amsterdam if you wanna meet up. We’re recording footage to make the trailer now.

I’ve been working on this the past few months. After the release of Dice’n Goblins, I tried to work immediately on another crawler, but was struggling a lot with the art direction. I got really depressed. I took this project to rest a bit, and it advanced at a much quicker space, due to the scope and ambitions being way down.

We reached to a lot of Publisher, and got some interests, but didn’t catch any fish in the end. We got congratulated for our pitch deck so I guess that’s nice. Some publishers were nice, some publisher were rude (I feel like gamedev is the worst industry I worked on, in that regard). We were either asking for too little money (they’re financing bigger projects), or too much (they’re trying to make a quick buck). We learned a lot.

Looks cool, I really love the art style! I’m wishing you the best of luck in the publisher search

Whoa! I remember seeing you post about working on this game a few months ago, I’m very happy to see that it’s getting further! Great banner art, by the way ^^

I hope GodotCon Amsterdam is good. I wish I could go, but alas, I don’t think I can. Let us know how it goes!

Looks awesome!! :heart_with_ribbon: Can’t wait to see more of it.

Thank you all for your kind words!

If you have other games you think fits the genra aesthetically/gameplay wise, can you recommend them to me ? Fishing for ideas and checking how they would market their games.

Here a mini video of how it plays

Closest thing I can think of right now is Moonring by Fluttermind, LLC.

It looks fantastic! The screenshots make it look like a fun puzzle game where you gotta figure out how to get the right power ups in the right order.

Visually it reminds of things like Baba is You and Babushka’s Glitch Dungeon. Assuming it plays like a rogue-like dungeon crawler then game-play-wise it might be closer to Dungeons of Dredmor. But you did say to think Zelda so maybe Lenna’s Inception or Mina the Hollower. I was also generally reminded of Void Stranger (movement) and Minit (vibe) but they might not exactly fit the visual or game-play criteria.

The screenshots look really nice! As far as aesthetic, the only thing I can think of is He is Coming, but I don’t think the genre is the same.

(Yeah I read a long time ago and answered just now :'D)

Ah nice rec! I went to make my combat screen a bit like they did and players seems to like it. Thanks!

@ZeikJT Nice. I went to read a bit their steam pages for the one I don’t know about.

@exodrifter I played Moonring and really liked their sound design amongst all things lol The very soft sounds all over were super comfy. Unfortunately, I’m not that good at digging or doctoring sound effect myself.
