Now that NextFest June 2026 has kicked off. Are there any interesting demos you’ve played? Is anyone here participating?

A little late to checking out nextfest bc i’ve been busy, but a few of the games still keep their demos up afterwards thankfully.

I just checked out the SPRAWL ZERO demo this morning (SPRAWL zero on Steam). I had seen clips of the original game, and even picked it up, but I had never actually gotten around to playing it. But I’ve been following the development of ZERO and it looked sick, so I had to try it even though I haven’t played their other title.

And it was pretty sick. Honestly hit my nostalgia of the entire 90s-2000s shift of FPS games. Everything from the art direction, to the sound design, and especially the OST. oh my god the ost. Everything absolutely fucks.

I played the demo for a little over half an hour, but I’ve been listening to the soundtrack all day. would definitely recommend playing the demo or at least giving the soundtrack a listen. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSaqatgfAMp3ezbbhIvd4IngpuxPrcVHy

I haven’t been able to play too many yet, but one demo that stood out to me was for the puzzle game Object Impermanence:

Seeing is not only believing, it’s also existing. I remember playing some puzzles like this before, such as in Antichamber, but having a whole game built around it is really cool! The mechanics also vary in how objects react when you’re not looking. The world also seems to have a lot of worldbuilding lore, excited to find out more when the full game comes out (theoretically later this year).
