Nice to meet you, I'm Haru =)

a hobbyist gamedev since..quite some time. Here’s my gamedev nerd story:

I started around 96/97 with DJGPP/DeluxePaint/FastTracker 2 and uploaded stuff in BBSs.
This went for a few years until ~2002, then the classical “life happened” during which I didn’t
touch gamedev at all. In Fall 2019 I found an old backup CD of mine, which sparked the interest
anew. First it was the Cocos2DX for a year or two, got my feet wet in solo indie business releasing some mobile stuff (I earned 2€, yay! :D). Well, I disliked marketing and pretty much all business side so much, that I quietly got back to tinkering stuff just for fun. About 2021-22 got then into Godot/Aseprite and spent regularly
time on Twitch during lock-downs developing stuff and occasionally chatting with fellow devs. I’m still on that road, although lately the day-job & all other IRL responsibilities are eating time away from my beloved hobby. My latest addition to the hobby list is analog&digital drawing, which maybe (hopefully!) leaks to gamedev at some point.

Other than that, somehow most of my games tend to have at least one of the following attributes: Cuteness, Nekogirls or Cats :3
The recent ones can be found at https://haru-dev.itch.io/

So I guess that’s that  Glad you meet you guys and looking forward to talk gamedev stuff!

Welcome to the forum, Haru! I hope you enjoy the space we have here, and feel free to post about your work in Show Off as well.

I’ve heard about Cocos2D before, but I never got around to using it. I haven’t thought about it for a while! Did you enjoy using it?

Thanks! I picked up Cocos bc C/C++ were the only languages I knew. Developing with it was quite straightforward. However, it seems pretty obsolete today.
