The help category is set up specifically to mimic the format of StackOverflow, where one of the replies can be selected as an “answer”. However, we have had multiple instances of people selecting the help category for open ended discussions that don’t fit this format. For example:
In these cases, I change the category to general, but I’m starting to think that we may want two categories. Perhaps we could do “Q&A” for StackOverflow-style questions and “Advice” for open ended discussions.
What do you think? Maybe you can think of better names? Maybe you think the status quo is fine? Let me know.
I like the idea of the StackOverflow-style questions in Help. I do not think that a new category for advice questions is necessary. Instead, I suggest that a tag be created in the General category. Although if they happen frequently enough maybe it is a good idea to have a new category for these advise questions.
I’ve gone ahead and renamed #help to #Q&A, though I left the URL slug as help since & can’t be part of the slug and qa would probably be confusing, I think.
