Hi I’m looking for a guide on design a PCB around the rp2040 for beginners. I’m tried looking at the official manual but its just incredibly information dense and I got quite overwhelmed mostly because I’m not from a EE background. Any suggestions would be wonderful
I’m a software engineer by trade—my only EE background is my grade school Robotics extracurriculars—however I do work in Semiconductors and I have a few coworkers who are big hobbyists. I’ll ask around and see if they have any pointers.
It’ll probably be some learning but RPI themselves have guides on minimal hardware design: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/microcontrollers/pico-series.html#documentation
They do explain a lot of things quite extensively so it’s a bit of a read and there’s some assumed know-how but if you look stuff up and make sure you don’t skip too much stuff it can be quite informative!
The only recommendations they shared were this RP2040 Design Guide and generally to lean on YouTube as an initial resource. They also said to budget for multiple PCB prints because it’ll be the best way to gain a more intuitive understanding of the design process. You can always iterate on the boards you’ve made before!
