Currently trying to work on a visual novel with some puzzles mixed in, a truly niche game in some already niche genres! Maybe someday there will be more to share. Otherwise I just like messing around with different stuff; currently just tossing code around in Godot.
Love me some good sci fi stories, puzzle games, programming stuff, and probably all other manner of random stuff. Here’re some of my favs off the top of my head in no particular order:
Feel free to tell me about your favorite books or games or movies or tv shows or songs or … whatever your passion may be, I would love to hear about em and explore them for myself!
Haven’t finished Heavenly Delusion yet but the other anime/manga you listed are so good! Have you checked out Frieren? I also liked that one a lot.
The Three Body Problem is good if you like sci-fi. I also liked The Expanse even though it ended early.
I have been reading Frieren! The beginning was super strong, it lost me a little with the exam stuff, but the arcs after that have been interesting at least. It turned out more slice of life than I was expecting so we’ll see how long I keep going.
I did watch Expanse and it was fantastic! I would’ve totally put it in the above list if it’d come to mind sooner, but the list was already getting long haha. Might someday give the books a whirl to see what I’m missing there.
Still have yet to read or watch any Three Body Problem stuff, but it is definitely on my list! Good to know it’s got a rec, will bump it up my mental queue
I’m in the middle of finally getting around to reading Three Body Problem myself… I got about 5 chapters in and I like it – just haven’t made the time to pick it back up. I don’t actually have very many favorites, here’s some of mine:
Parasite (2019)
I Saw the Devil (2010)
Vinland Saga
Kemono Friends (Season 1)
Nichijou
Also, Opus Magnum is easily my favorite Zachtronics game. I like that one a lot.
Oh, and feel free to post about stuff you do end up making in Show Off. And General is a great place to talk about this stuff in the future too
Parasite was shockingly good. It is just as literal as Snow Piercer but so much more engaging and approachable. I wonder what Mickey 17 will be like…
I know all of the others you mentioned except I Saw the Devil, I’ll have to put it in my queue somewhere!
I appreciate that Opus Magnum is the least limited of the Zachtronics games. Just a massive field (infinite?) to build in and you can start with the most unoptimized mess of all time and still succeed. It is one of the few of their games that I 100%ed because it was so doable, usually hit a wall eventually with the others.
visual novel with some puzzles mixed in! a niche game targeting directly at me!!
have you read Witch Hat Atelier? I think you would like that one too based on your list! It’s one of my favorite manga c:
If you haven’t had the chance to watch the dungeon meshi anime it’s a really good adaptation of the manga and the studio trigger animation is chef’s kiss.
Yes! A game catered to the most niche of interests, will be lucky if anyone plays it haha
I have been reading Witch Hat for sure, and when it hits it really hits! I did an Olruggio cosplay for a convention and ran into quite a few Qifreys of course.
I did watch the first episode of the DunMeshi anime just to see that they are nailing it, can’t wait to hear what people think as the story unfolds, cause wow does it go places.
