A ran across this article today, and I thought it was interesting.
According to Matt Hobbs (@TheRealNooshu@hachyderm.io), 3,574 users visited gov.uk on games consoles in 2021:
• Xbox - 2,062
• Playstation 4 - 1,457
• Playstation Vita - 25
• Nintendo WiiU - 14
• Nintendo 3DS - 16
I always forget consoles have web browsers built into them (probably because I don’t own any).
I wonder what the numbers are like these days and what they are like for other websites around the world.
You could probably make a quick guest network with lax security if you really wanted to test it. But hopefully you are not in an area where someone will sneak onto the network and do bad shit in the limited time you have it available…
I remember when progressive enhancement was a big thing, and people built websites that could load simple but got all the fancy new features layered on top that would kick into action if the browser supported it. This way of designing websites is verrrrrrrrrry looooooooong gone it seems.
Yeah this is the main problem. PSP supports at best WPA-PSK and I live in a large city where there’s definitely people sniffing around for open/weak networks. I mean even Samsung TVs now will automatically connect to any open network it can find to force an update into itself.
