VTubing allows people to use cameras, mocap, and or audio feeds to puppeteer a virtual avatar. This is commonly used in place of real life people, such as online entertainment. VTubing avatars can vary greatly in how they are created, how they are used, and what they are capable of doing, depending on both the type of avatar and the program(s) used for input and display. The methods of controlling an avatar are not exclusive. Some avatars may only support audio, reacting to when a user speaks or even the phonetics of their speech. Other avatars may support a camera input via webcam or phone camera, and others may accept motion capture solutions. Compatibility can depend on both the software and the avatar itself, so it is worth looking into what is supported before investing in any singular program. Below is a non-comprehensive chart of some notable VTubing programs.
