The following vision and mission have been officially approved!

Vision: We dream of a world where game developers and game enthusiasts have a space where they feel connected, supported, and empowered.

Mission: To provide robust digital services and vibrant community digital-first spaces for game developers, creators, and game enthusiasts to connect.

Minutes

The meeting took place 2026-03-22T17:20:00Z2026-03-22T18:00:00Z on exodrifter’s Discord server due to technical issues with MatrixRTC. Another meeting to agree on initial circles will take place sometime in the next week.

Due to the nature of the meeting, these notes cover what people discussed in both voice and text communication. Quotes include what people said or posted, with some deliberate editing to remove typos and filler words like “um” or “like”.

Attendance

@exodrifter notified attendees that this meeting was being recorded for the purposes of making public minutes of the meeting and that this recording would be destroyed after the minutes were made.

Agenda:

  • Agree on a vision and mission
  • Discuss what the initial circles could be.

Vision and Mission

@exodrifter proposes the following vision and mission:

  • Vision: We dream of a world where game developers and game enthusiasts have a space where they feel connected, supported, and empowered.
  • Mission: To provide robust digital services and vibrant community digital-first spaces for game developers, content creators, and game enthusiasts to connect.

@exodrifter briefly recaps what a vision and mission is under sociocracy. Vision is the pipe dream of what we want to achieve. The mission is how we will operate towards achieving that vision. These are not set in stone, and there will be a circle in charge of making sure the organization is following the vision and mission and deciding upon changes to them.

Round:

  • @prod agrees. Also comments on the previous minutes. She found the Sociocratic governance model interesting and agreed that we have a lot of game devs, but not a lot of game players.
    • @exodrifter says that the circles we would organize under would have to address the lack of game players, but right now we’re focusing on whether or not we want this vision and mission.
  • @generalred agrees
  • @halfcourtyeet agrees. Would like a better word for “enthusiast”.
  • @isomorphism no objections.
  • @lunarequest happy, no complaints.
  • @rohajin agrees.
  • @outfrost agrees.
  • Tomaterr objects to the use of the word “content” in “content creator”
    • Tomaterr: I object to the “content” part of “content creator” specifically. I think that framing-- For me, I’m much more of a games as art person, and I think we are going to exclude a certain portion of the audience if we stick to this idea of “content”. I think “content” is sort of a flattening, and a-- you know, it removes the importance of the creative process. If we could stick to “internet creator” or “digital creator”, something like that…
    • @halfcourtyeet: What about creators?
    • Tomaterr: Yea, or just “creators”. Like, extending beyond just “content”. That way, you could do more [indistinguishable] We could do stuff that’s more high concept, which is how you can start to pull in some of those enthusiasts who are wanting to be part of the conversation. No objections, besides that.

@exodrifter opens the floor to consider a better word for “enthusiast”:

  • @exodrifter doesn’t want to use “gamer” because that might attract a toxic crowd.
  • @exodrifter also thinks “gaymer” is good, but might be too specific.
  • @halfcourtyeet suggests “supporter”, “proponent”
  • Tomaterr asks what the beef is with “enthusiast”
    • @halfcourtyeet: It sounds like the nerd emoji.
    • Tomaterr: On the one hand, I can hear what you are saying there – on the other hand I think we are trying to court those people who are engaged, right?
    • @halfcourtyeet: We want the nerd emoji.
    • Tomaterr: Yeah, exactly. Like, “enthusiasts” speaks to the audience we are trying to cultivate here. […] If you talk about a car enthusiast, you are not necessarily talking about everyone who drives cars but also not someone who just loves their Ford F150. You’re talking about people who appreciate and try to have an engaged opinion about vehicles […]
  • @halfcourtyeet suggests “hobbyist”, but feels the case has been made for “enthusiast” and that it is good enough to try.

@exodrifter proposes:

  • Vision: We dream of a world where game developers and game enthusiasts have a space where they feel connected, supported, and empowered.
  • Mission: To provide robust digital services and vibrant community digital-first spaces for game developers, creators, and game enthusiasts to connect.

Round:

Initial Circles

@exodrifter opens the floor for a general discussion of what the initial circles should be. She points out that since circles are autonomous, they are allowed to form subcircles at will.

  • Tomaterr asks how the Sociocratic part of t/suki and t/suki’s community as a whole are separated from one another.
    • @exodrifter: The community circle would be responsible for understanding the t/suki community as a whole and changing things about the community to respond to things that people want. For example, I know that people have been critical of my desire to have a very low number of channels or categories on the forum and on Matrix, which is totally fine and understandable. I don’t want to deal with that, I want the community circle to deal with that, right? And the community circle would be the one responsible for figuring out, like, how do we respond to user needs, how do we make sure that user needs are being met, how do we evaluate whether or not people are happy with how things are arranged.
    • @exodrifter: I think the people who are using the forum might not necessarily be part of the circle, part of the governance structure that makes up t/suki. […] There’s another idea I have that is unrelated to the circle structure of t/suki, which is this idea of “guilds”. There’s a local hackerspace in San Francisco called Noisebridge. One of the things Noisebridge does as an anarchic organization is that they have this process called “guilds”. And a “guild” is any group of people, who want to meet for whatever reason, formed by anyone who happens to be a member at Noisebridge. So, if you just felt like it, you say “Well, I’m just going to start the group of people who want to talk specifically about OpenTTD and post about trains” or whatever, and you can just do that. It’s like a little club [..] We could entertain doing something like that at t/suki.
    • Tomaterr: A good topic for community circle.

At the conclusion of this unstructured conversation, the following initial circle formation is suggested (this is not final):

@exodrifter will schedule the next meeting time in the next few days based on people’s availability. The next meeting will be about definitively deciding what the circles are and setting everyone up.

If you have any circles you’d like to be a part of, any feedback on the circles, or any circles you think should be part of the initial formation, please leave a post in this topic. I’ll collect them to discuss in the next meeting.
